Compared to other countries, Germany has a low level of digitalization. A digitized dunning process can lead to more punctual payments, say 49% of the companies.

Findings from the EOS 'European Payment Practices' 2017 study shows that many customers deliberately fail to pay their outstanding payments. As a result, 46% of companies suffer a loss of profit. The most common reason for non-payment of one's own debts is overextension among private customers. But forgetfulness and deliberate non-payment are also reasons for unpaid bills.
