Berlin, September 1, 2026 – With a symbolic handover at the Grundschule im Blumenviertel in Prenzlauer Berg, the Berlin-wide distribution of ManoMoneta finance boxes to all 457 primary schools started today. This initiative is made possible by the Meta Kaasch Foundation. Berlin's State Secretary for Education, Christina Henke, took part in a financial education workshop on-site with a mixed-age learning group and presented the finance box to the school.

"Financial decisions accompany us throughout our lives. That is why it is important to introduce children to these topics early on and in an age-appropriate manner. The finance box supports schools in integrating financial education into lessons in a practical and playful way," says State Secretary Christina Henke.

The ManoMoneta finance box is aimed at students in grades 3 to 6. It supports teachers with free, ad-free, and age-appropriate materials covering money, consumption, saving, and budget planning. The modular teaching package addresses children's everyday topics and aligns with the framework curriculum.

Financial education must not depend on whether children talk about money at home or whether individual teachers address the topic. It is an important everyday life skill and should be accessible to all children, regardless of their background or family circumstances. With this initiative, all Berlin primary schools receive a resource that teachers can use directly in class.

"With ManoMoneta, we make financial education understandable, relevant to everyday life, and motivating for children. Together with the Meta Kaasch Foundation and the State of Berlin, we want to reach as many primary school students as possible," explains Jana Titov from the finlit foundation.

Without the support of the Meta Kaasch Foundation, this campaign would not be possible in this form. "Financial education cannot start early enough. That is why the foundation is committed to this project and promotes the transfer of financial knowledge – starting with basic economic skills at primary school age," says Anja Hartmann of the Meta Kaasch Foundation.
