FAQ

General questions: debt collection conducted by EOS Deutschland B2C

What do EOS services cost?

The cost will depend on the requested services and these are calculated on a case-by-case basis. EOS Deutschland offers a variety of options, such as success fees in the form of commissions and handling fees. Each offer is without obligation and free of charge.

How successful is EOS?

The success rate depends on the type and age of each receivable. If requested, EOS Deutschland provides its clients with industry-specific reports.

How long will it take for me to receive my money?

EOS Deutschland takes care to ensure that your debtors pay as quickly as possible. This may differ considerably from case to case. Nevertheless, EOS always speeds up the process.

Why shouldn’t I use a lawyer?

Working in partnership with a lawyer is the right way forward if you need comprehensive advice on complex legal problems or contested issues. If receivables are uncontested, then a debt collection company is the best option for you. The core competence of EOS is the collection of debts, to enable you to focus fully on your main business.

How does EOS Deutschland (B2C) proceed in the collection of debts?

As well as using traditional methods, i.e. sending written reminders by letter, e-mail or text, we also contact your customers by phone and collect money in person.

Questions from the health sector

How often do I need to remind patients before instructing EOS?

You can pass a case on to us as soon as a patient is defaulting on their payment of a medical bill. This is the case if you have expressly indicated on your invoice that default is assumed after the bill remains unpaid for 30 days.

If your bills contain no such note, then you need to send a reminder to the patient. You can do so either in writing or verbally, e.g. through a phone call. However, it is better to remind a patient as soon as possible after the due date and not too frequently. The sooner you delegate the collection of due fees to experts, the higher your chances of success.

When is debt collection worthwhile?

In principle, even minor arrears should not be ignored. Basically, any outstanding fees should be followed up by debt collection, regardless of whether a patient owes 15 euros or 400 euros or indeed more.

Remember that if you waive the collection of minor amounts, then this information might spread among your patients. This might prompt at least some of your patients never to pay small amounts at all.

What documents does EOS need?

All we need is the patient’s name, address and date of birth as well as the date, number (where available) and amount as specified in your invoice and also (if applicable) the date on which the debtor was sent a first reminder. No further documents are required.

Will you maintain medical confidentiality?

It goes without saying that we give the highest priority to your confidentiality as a medical practitioner. We therefore only need the details mentioned under ‘What documents does EOS need?’.

We do not require the actual invoice or indeed any other sensitive patient details. Should a debtor raise objections arising from the treatment itself, then you have the following choice: you can either resolve the issue directly with the patient – i.e. you talk to them – or you can seek out-of-court settlement through our contract lawyers. You will not incur any further costs.

What procedure does EOS follow with the patient?

We contact your patient directly – either by letter or by phone, depending on each case.

At the same time we obtain information about this person’s asset situation. This gives us additional arguments in communicating with your patient, e.g. it may be good to set up a payment plan if a person’s current asset situation makes it impossible for them to pay their debt immediately and in full.

It goes without saying that all our activities are governed by the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

What is the success rate of EOS?

Our success rate partly depends on the amount of time that has elapsed between the billing date and the point at which we take over.

If we are instructed within two months, our success rate is 72 per cent for medical practitioners (including specialists) and 83 per cent for dentists.

In what form do I receive information about the progress of an issue?

We give you 24/7 online access to our system, so that you can plot the progress of a case at any time.

When does EOS pass on payments received from my patients?

Incoming payments are passed on at monthly intervals.

How much does the service cost?

This depends on the type and amounts of the receivables. We offer a variety of options, such as success fees in the form of commissions and handling fees. Do please contact us. Each offer is without obligation and free of charge.
